Ministry of Sound renovation 2026 marks the club’s most significant transformation since it opened in 1991. Ahead of its 35th anniversary, the iconic London venue will upgrade its legendary main room, The Box, throughout January 2026. In addition, the club plans a full technical refresh to elevate sound and visual immersion. At the same time, the team will preserve the industrial identity that made the venue a global reference point. As a result, Ministry of Sound’s 35th anniversary will unfold alongside one of the most ambitious upgrades in its history.
DJ Booth Moves Into the Crowd + Capacity Boost
The Box will undergo major architectural changes designed to improve crowd flow and energy. As part of the Ministry of Sound 35th anniversary vision, the team will lower the DJ booth directly into the dancefloor to strengthen the artist-to-crowd connection. In addition, engineers will rebuild the booth as a modular structure capable of supporting multiple stage formats, including 360° setups. They will also construct a new elevated backstage area behind the booth. As a result, the room’s capacity will increase by around 200 people. Overall, these upgrades aim to create a more connected dancefloor and a layout built for modern club culture rather than a traditional “stage vs crowd” separation.
A 9㎡ Overhead Light Installation by Lucid Creates
Visually, The Box is being redesigned around a 9㎡ overhead lighting installation, alongside an entirely new video and lighting concept created by Lucid Creates — a design studio known for large-scale productions for Pacha Ibiza, Glastonbury, and Boomtown. Notably, these enhancements arrive for the Ministry of Sound’s 35th anniversary year.
The suspended structure will combine several cutting-edge elements that echo the spirit of the Ministry of Sound 35th anniversary.
-
Multi-layered metal frameworks
-
Reflective industrial textures
-
Integrated video surfaces
-
Custom LED bar technology
All designed to create a constantly evolving, multi-dimensional environment above the dancefloor, and to help define the Ministry of Sound 35th anniversary atmosphere.
