Artist: Aly Maher (AKA PRAVDA)
Focus: New collaborative release featuring vocalist Mary Darwish “Einak Helm”

Aly Maher (AKA PRAVDA) Looks to shape a sound rooted in emotion and progression, blending melodic depth with driving groove. His latest release marks a new chapter, featuring Arabic vocals through a collaboration with vocalist Mary Darwish. We spoke with Maher about the creative process behind the track, the role of storytelling in his music, and the evolution of his artistic vision.
What was the first element you built around when creating this track?
The foundation of the track began with the chords. From there, I developed the melodies and atmospheric pads, making sure they carried a strong emotional and melodic character. The vocal element came later in the process. My initial focus was on creating a mood that felt honest and expressive before introducing vocals.
Can you walk us through the production process—from the first idea to the final master?
At the time, I was going through a dark and emotionally heavy phase, and I wanted the music to reflect that state of mind. I started by experimenting with different basslines, constantly switching and reshaping sounds. Some elements were redesigned three or four times before they felt right. It was a very organic process driven by emotion rather than structure.
How did your collaboration with Mary Darwish begin, and what made her voice the right fit for this track?
I knew early on that the track needed a female vocal. Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to Mary, who was just starting her journey in the music industry. We agreed that Arabic vocals would suit the track best. Once we reached a result we were both happy with, we locked in the final format. It was a great experience—especially since this was my first vocal-driven release.
Were there any specific Arabic musical influences in the arrangement?
I made subtle sound adjustments to better support the Arabic vocals, although Mary’s voice already fit naturally. I didn’t change the core arrangement, but I’m very detail-oriented—I created four versions and around 38 stems. The final vocal take alone took about two hours.
Did Mary have creative input in shaping the emotional direction of the track?
She shared a few valuable insights and helped create a positive atmosphere during the sessions. Her main focus was delivering the best possible vocal performance. Overall, we spent around four months refining the track.
Does this track represent a new direction for your sound?
It’s more of a reshaping of my artistic vision. I originally came from a big room and EDM background, but now I’m moving toward a sound that balances groove, aggression, and emotion. Progressive music focuses on groove and bass, while melodic music offers emotional depth. My goal is to combine the strengths of both.
Is cultural identity something you consciously think about when producing?
At first, it was very intentional. Over time, it became natural. Inspiration now comes from everyday surroundings—sometimes even from scrolling through social media. I’ve learned that spontaneity leads to more honest music than forcing concepts.
How do you feel Arabic vocals are being received globally in house and techno?
In the past, Arabic elements were well received, but overuse weakened their authenticity. That said, I’m always open to creative ideas as long as they feel genuine and respectful.
How important is storytelling in your music?
Storytelling is essential. Music is art, and every piece of art should have a story and meaning behind it. I use music to express what I feel and believe. I do this purely for the love of music.
Can we expect more collaborations or Arabic-inspired elements in future releases?
Absolutely. I’m currently working on another track with Mary that has a funky twist while keeping progressive energy and melodic emotion. I’m also preparing a second collaboration with My good friend “Everyone” Featuring Ukrainian vocalist Lexi, We’re aiming for a release within the next two months.
With new collaborations and releases on the way, Aly Maher remains focused on authenticity, emotion, and growth. As he continues to explore melodic and progressive sounds through a personal and cultural lens, his work reflects an artist committed to meaningful expression beyond trends.
