FISHER and LAUREL’s “Staring At The Sun” has officially arrived after developing into one of the Australian artist’s most requested unreleased tracks of 2026.
Released on October 16 through FISHER’s Catch & Release label, the collaboration combines bright piano chords, a driving house rhythm and an emotionally charged vocal performance from British singer, songwriter and producer LAUREL.
The record follows months of appearances in FISHER’s festival sets, residencies and headline shows. Long before listeners could identify it by name, “Staring At The Sun” had already become a recognisable live moment.
FISHER and LAUREL Turn an Unreleased ID Into an Anthem
FISHER introduced the track during his international 2026 schedule, playing it at events including EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Europe, Tomorrowland, Parookaville and Creamfields.
It also became a regular highlight during the Australian artist’s second summer residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza, where he performed across 15 Thursday nights between June and September.
The months of live testing allowed the collaboration to build naturally. Rather than appearing without warning on streaming platforms, the record developed an audience through festival recordings, fan discussions and social-media clips.
One unexpected viral moment pushed the ID beyond the electronic-music community when a video of comedian Kevin Hart at OMNIA Dayclub in Las Vegas used the track as its soundtrack.
LAUREL Draws Inspiration From Icarus
While FISHER’s production supplies the scale and dancefloor energy, LAUREL gives the record its central emotional idea.
Her writing takes inspiration from the Greek myth of Icarus, transforming the image of flying too close to the sun into a metaphor for being drawn towards someone who feels essential but potentially destructive.
LAUREL’s indie-influenced vocal introduces a vulnerable quality to FISHER’s festival-ready production. As a result, the collaboration sits between a peak-time house record and an accessible vocal anthem without abandoning either direction.
The release also highlights LAUREL’s position as both a performer and producer. Her third studio album, Crying on the Tennis Court, is scheduled for release on January 22, 2027.
FISHER Continues a Major 2026 Campaign
“Staring At The Sun” follows an active year for FISHER that has included “Rain,” “Favour” with Tones And I and “What A Life” with Florence Arman.
The single arrived shortly after his Under Construction performance alongside Chris Lake at Goldenvoice’s Head Trip festival. FISHER then carried that momentum into two major New York concerts at Forest Hills Stadium on October 16 and 17.
The release demonstrates how an electronic track can now develop its identity before reaching streaming services. Festival footage and social-media moments made audiences familiar with “Staring At The Sun,” but the official version finally presents the collaboration in full.
By connecting FISHER’s large-scale house production with LAUREL’s cinematic songwriting, the single delivers an emotional club track designed to remain effective after festival season ends. It also continues the momentum behind Australian electronic artists following Dom Dolla’s record-breaking stadium show.
