Boris Brejcha has announced that he will bring his career—and the story of his unmistakable Joker character—to an end in 2028.
The German producer revealed the decision on October 24, 2026, under the title Last Chapter 2028. His plan includes one final year of festival appearances in 2027, followed by a farewell headline tour named Last Chapter: Becoming the Joker in 2028.
Dates, cities and ticket information for the final tour have not yet been announced. An official website has opened for fans who want to register for future updates.
2027 Will Be His Final Festival Year
Brejcha’s announcement creates a clear two-stage conclusion to his touring career.
The producer will continue appearing at festivals throughout 2027, but those performances will represent his final festival season. The following year will be dedicated to the Last Chapter: Becoming the Joker farewell tour, giving audiences a final opportunity to experience his full headline production.
Ultra Miami 2027 Reveals Phase One Lineup With Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix and Exclusive Debuts
His confirmed 2027 schedule already includes a major appearance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, where he is expected to perform a first-of-its-kind back-to-back set with Eric Prydz’s techno alias, Cirez D.
Further festival announcements are likely to arrive before the beginning of the season, while details surrounding the 2028 farewell shows remain under wraps.
A Personal Decision, Not a Health Crisis
In his accompanying statement, Brejcha stressed that the decision was not caused by illness or a loss of passion for electronic music.
The artist explained that he had spent a long time considering how and when to close this part of his life. He ultimately decided that ending the story while he still feels connected to the music and his audience was the right choice.
Brejcha also indicated that another personal chapter may follow, although he does not yet know what form it will take. That leaves open the possibility of future creative work, but he has made no announcement about recording or performing under another identity.
For now, the confirmed plan is that both the Boris Brejcha project and its Joker persona will conclude at the end of 2028.
Two Decades Behind the Joker Mask
Brejcha’s career began gaining international attention in 2006, when he released his first records and performed at Brazil’s Universo Paralello festival.
The Brazilian carnival became the inspiration for the Joker mask that would eventually become central to his visual identity. Musically, Brejcha developed a distinctive production style he described as “high-tech minimal,” combining minimal techno foundations with melodic passages, heavy basslines and festival-scale arrangements.
He founded the Fckng Serious label in 2015, creating a platform for his own releases and a growing group of electronic artists. His international profile expanded further through ambitious live productions and widely viewed performances, including his 2019 Cercle set at Paris’ Grand Palais.
Since then, Brejcha has moved from underground clubs to leading festival stages and major headline venues while maintaining a sound that has remained immediately recognisable.
The announcement of his final chapter therefore marks more than the retirement of another touring DJ. It signals the planned conclusion of one of modern electronic music’s most carefully developed artistic identities.
With a final festival season ahead and a dedicated farewell tour still to be revealed, Boris Brejcha is preparing to close the story on his own terms—and at the height of his international reach.
