EXIT has confirmed that it will return to Petrovaradin Fortress in Serbia in July 2027, bringing its audience back to the festival’s historic home earlier than originally planned.
In an announcement published on October 29, organisers said a larger comeback had initially been envisaged for 2028. However, the response from supporters has prompted the team to prepare a special EXIT experience for next summer instead.
The announcement establishes a return month and location, but does not yet provide exact dates, an artist lineup or ticket-sale details. The format of the 2027 gathering also remains to be revealed.

A Return With Important Details Still to Come
The distinction between the newly announced gathering and a conventional full festival edition matters.
EXIT describes July 2027 as a special experience at the fortress, while explaining that the larger-scale return it had originally imagined would require a longer preparation period. Until the next announcement, audiences should not assume that previous editions’ duration, stage configuration or capacity will automatically apply.
For visitors considering a trip, the next essential information will be the confirmed event dates and booking arrangements.
Why EXIT Stepped Away From Serbia
The homecoming follows a period in which EXIT said it could no longer stage its flagship festival in Serbia.
In September 2025, organisers attributed that situation to the withdrawal of public funding and sponsorship following their support for student protests. EXIT subsequently developed its 2026 Global Tour, taking its festival activities to destinations beyond its traditional Serbian base.
Those pressures were also addressed by the European festival association YOUROPE in a September 2025 letter supporting EXIT. The association described the loss of funding and wider pressure on the organisation as a serious threat to its future.
From the Pyramids Back to the Fortress
For Egyptian audiences, the announcement connects directly with EXIT’s recent international expansion.
Starlight Festival at the Great Pyramids of Giza formed part of the organisation’s 2026 Global Tour. EXIT had previously clarified that these international projects were new festivals, rather than a permanent relocation of the Serbian event to Egypt or another country.
That distinction now becomes particularly relevant. A return to Petrovaradin would reconnect EXIT with its home venue without changing the separate identities of the international events developed during its expansion.
The Next Chapter Begins at Home
The immediate significance is clear: EXIT has publicly committed to gathering at the fortress again in July 2027.
What that gathering becomes will depend on the programme, production and practical details still to come. For now, the announcement offers audiences a concrete next chapter after a period of uncertainty—and gives the wider festival community a major European return to follow.
Further information should be checked through EXIT’s official channels before travel or ticket purchases are planned.
