Maceo Plex released Supasonic / Closer on October 30, 2026, through Lone Romantic. The two-track release, listed as LR036, pairs a forceful techno cut with a more atmospheric club record.
‘Supasonic’ Brings the Pressure
Manipulated vocal fragments and a weighty low end drive “Supasonic.” Its rough-edged synth textures give the percussion something to push against, and the track keeps its attention on forward movement. It is the more direct of the two cuts, with a sound that makes sense in a set already building intensity.
‘Closer’ Makes Room for Atmosphere
“Closer” works with a different balance. A swinging four-on-the-floor rhythm anchors the track while warmer bass, dark vocals and expansive pads leave more room for mood. The change is not a break from the dancefloor. It is a change in what draws the ear: atmosphere comes forward without the rhythm dropping away.
That distinction gives the release more use than two tracks doing the same job. A DJ can reach for “Supasonic” when a set needs a harder edge, or for “Closer” when the transition calls for depth without losing momentum. Listeners can also hear the pair in sequence as a compact example of how differently the same producer can use a club framework.
Another Release on Lone Romantic
The record follows a busy period that included “The Plan” on Ellum, the Monster EP on Rekids and a remix of Empire of the Sun’s “DNA.” Putting this pairing on Lone Romantic gives both tracks a home on Maceo Plex’s own imprint.
The appeal of Supasonic / Closer is in the contrast. Neither track needs the other to work, but hearing them together makes the differences in texture and rhythm easier to pick out. The release is available through digital retailers including Beatport and Boomkat.
